Timber sale administration includes marking and tallying standing timber to be harvested. At Graves Consulting Forestry and Land Management LLC, we take pride in our services, therefore our first step will be to obtain the landowner’s objectives and goals. This helps ensure we are providing the best service to every individual landowner. Then the trees will be marked with paint, and tallied with the diameter and height of merchantable logs, with pulpwood and
undesirable trees marked at same time. From there, the information is used to calculate a total tree count and board foot volume to include in a timber bid prospectus to be sent to several reputable sawmills and private loggers to bid on. We then work with the landowners to agree upon the highest responsible bidder to award the bid to.
Furthermore, a timber contract is prepared and executed between the landowner and the accepted bidder. Afterward, we will administer the sale from start to finish, with several inspections throughout the harvest, and maintain final clean-up to contract specifications to ensure the best experience for landowners.
